Big Sur, oh my, what were they thinking?

Just upgraded my laptop to Big Sur to see what the future looks like. I'm going to need a flux capacitor to get back to a decent computer interface.

yep. one of the main reasons I haven't upgraded to a M1.

2020 27" iMac 3.8 8 core i7, 1 TB SSD, 8 GB 5500Xt =$1950 delivered tomorrow for $8. Geekbench is 1217/7750

$250 for 64 GB of ram. $2200 total out the door. Could go to 128 GB later. Get 5K display and Catalina. With only 2 Tbolt ports, means I have to figure out dual screens + external Thunderbolt 4 storage (don't want 10 GB/s) Would last many years?

or

Studio Max w/ 64/ 1Tb is $2600. 10-12 weeks. Add nice 32" 4K screen = $3100 total... really good 4K screen = close/over $3600 total. Geekbench is 1755/12330

Would last even more years... plenty of ports.

Apple would be happy to give me $200 for my 2014 27" iMac. =(

what's wrong with BS? Maybe I was so happy to have a newer Mac.
I find no major issues with it.

And there's the screen redraw / text display issues in apps like TextEdit... Surprisingly even worse in Monterey!

Same. first time I used it in a daily capacity 2 months ago. Ive seen it on my wifes and kids M1 macs, but I rarely used it for more than just preferences and that's about it.
